Rooftop Solar Solutions for the C&I Sector

In March 2017, the solar energy experts at Luminous Solar completed the installation of a solar energy system on our farm. We are very excited to reduce our carbon footprint on the farm where we expect to obtain at least 90% of the farm’s electricity requirements from our new solar system.

This system is comprised of North American-made solar panels and is expected to produce approximately 120,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually which will help fight global warming while also helping us to keep our costs down for the benefit of all of our customers.

"The solar experts at locally-based Luminous Solar, who designed and installed the system, made it so easy for us to go solar to allow us to do our part to address these important issues"

“We at Muzzarelli Farms decided to explore solar technologies as a means to ‘go green’ and reduce fossil fuel consumption on the farm,” stated Charles Muzzarelli.

“Global concerns about climate change, and regional air and water quality, are issues which affect all of us who live and work in New Jersey so it makes sense for all of us to do our part to move towards sustainable energy strategies such as solar power,” he continued.

According to the EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator, the amount of electricity that our new solar energy system will produce each year will reduce the amount of coal being burned each year by approximately 90,000 pounds, preventing over 84 metric tons  of carbon dioxide from being emitted. This is the equivalent of the amount of carbon taken in by approximately 80 acres of US forest land each year!

Economics was another factor in the farm’s decision to install solar panels.  “We jumped at the opportunity to go solar with no money down and without incurring any debt,” stated Charles Muzzarelli.

“In this era of rising operational costs, our farm is exploring all avenues to cut overhead expenses so that we may gain operating efficiencies to keep our products as affordable as possible for our customers,” he said.

“By making an investment in clean energy we can realize cost savings which enable us to be fiscally and environmentally mindful and hopefully reduce the impact of pollution on the health and wellness of our community.”

We are very excited to reduce our carbon footprint on the farm where we expect to obtain all of the farm’s electricity requirements from our new solar system!
